Meet Mary Tan
Whisker Fabulous Cat Sitting and Concierge was created by Mary Tan, a lifelong cat devotee with decades of hands‑on experience in feline care, rescue, and the pet product industry.
Mary is a pet product expert and industry publicist in addition to being a hands-on cat sitter. A serial pet entrepreneur, Whisker Fabulous is her second business. She also owns Whisker Media Pet Strategic Communications, one of the few public relations agencies that specializes in the pet industry. Her clients include some of the most influential “cat people,” animal welfare nonprofits and feline product companies all over the world. She helps many overseas pet businesses launch their products in the United States.
She is also a former Animal Humane Society public relations manager and current foster kitten vacation relief caregiver with the neonatal rescue Bitty Kitty Brigade. On top of that she volunteers with Ruff Start Rescue at their PetSmart adoption events, and Animal Humane Society as an animal surgical recovery volunteer at their low-cost veterinary clinic. Whisker Fabulous Cat Sitting is a way for her to have more hands-on work with animals. Cats have been the constant thread through every chapter of Mary’s personal and professional life.
Her work in the pet industry gives her a unique understanding of high‑quality products, feline health standards, and professional service expectations, while her rescue and foster experience has deepened her sensitivity to feline behavior, fear‑free handling, and emotional needs. Since Whisker Fabulous is a start-up business, Mary is currently working on accreditation from the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, Pet Sitters International and certification in cat CPR.
Mary believes cat sitting should feel personal, thoughtful, and expertly handled—never transactional.
